upstate

A postcard from upstate, late October —

First, we spent a night in a camper van in the back corner of a pasture in the middle of nowhere. Next to a stream and next to a field of horses. It was cold and foggy and a mouse ate our chocolate bar during the night. Josh made us a french press in the morning, and said something like “it wouldn’t be hard to live here.” we contemplated staying forever, then packed up and drove away.

Then, we spent a few nights at Deer Mountain Inn. Going here somehow felt like revisiting a memory — everything felt so cozy and comfortable and wood paneled and thoughtful. We drank Negronis and ate the best burger of my life (I say this fairly often, but I do mean it this time). This was an occasion to break out the Irish cream. This was an occasion to shoot a copious amount of film. I loved every minute.
